COC argues in Volkskrant for a new role. Netherlands must lead the fight for LGBTQ+ rights again.

Netherlands was once pioneering. We had equal marriage rights first. But other countries have overtaken us, says COC. While nothing happens here, countries progress faster.

COC sees concrete tasks. Workplace discrimination still happens. Transgender people face bureaucracy problems. And violence against LGBTQ+ people remains a problem.

The organization asks the government for more attention. Not only new laws, but also enforcing existing rules. And help for violence and discrimination victims.

Netherlands can lead again, COC believes. But policy must be taken seriously. Currently, it is not.
