Something serious happened in Berlin's subway. A man attacked three people. Two women and one man were involved.

Police say the attacker insulted the victims. He used racist language. He also used homophobic slurs. This was an attack on people for who they are.

Such attacks unfortunately happen more often in Germany. LGBTQ+ people and people with migration backgrounds face attacks. This occurs on the street and public transport.

Berlin police are investigating the attack. Hate as a motive for violence is criminal in Germany. The perpetrator could face serious punishment.

Berlin is known as an open and tolerant city. The city has a large LGBTQ+ community. Yet not everyone feels safe. Incidents like this show more work is needed.

LGBTQ+ rights organizations reacted with shock. They urge people to report such violence to police. Only then can perpetrators face consequences.

If you experience homophobic or racist violence, report it to police. Berlin has special organizations supporting victims. You don't have to carry this alone.
